What Should I Do Before Buying a Home?

1. Start Saving - Begin a budget and start setting money aside for home repairs, utilities and other related expenses.

 

2. Get Pre-Approved - Speak with a lender to get pre-approved for a mortgage loan so you know what you can afford.

 

3. Research Neighborhoods - Take the time to research different neighborhoods and find out if they meet your needs in terms of safety, convenience, access to schools, etc.

 

4. Set aside an emergency fund before investing in a house - remember, unforeseen events can happen!

 

5. Don't make any other large purchases! Buying a new car prior to closing can negatively effect your credit score - which could cause you to be denied your loan! Save those four wheels for after you have settled into your beautiful home.
